fujifilm s3 pro?
« on: May 23, 2008, 06:46:16 PM »
Help, need your advice?

hi, a professional photographer is selling his fugi s3 pro. he offered
it to me at 70,000pesos last march. i said it was way too much for my
budget.

i got interested with it again because i read an article that fujifilm
dslr are nikon mount (i know i just learnd it) -and it's metering
works with AI lens from nikon. so i asked him again. he said to name
a price for it.

since i dont anything about fugifilm dslrs i went to ebay and looked
around for the item. i average the 2nd hand S3 and i found out they
cost lest that 20,000 pesos.

questions

1) does anyone know anything about this camera (first hand review
please already read articles on the net)

2) how mush should i offer the guy.... 70T is a far cry from 20T but
that is the price i have researched.

Really need you guys advice.... thanks

an s3 is an old cam in my opinion and for that price i would say its a bit expensive.... i even seen a post selling a nikon d2 for around 30-40k (forgot)
Think out of the box.

i use an s3 pro and i absolutely love it. the only things i don't like about it are it has a small lcd, and it's a bit slow to write. but everything else is fantastic.

70k for an s3 pro is waaay too much. the s5 pro is around 87k at fujifilm and is a lot better. the 20k you're referring to must be in the states. but remember, shipping and taxes are expensive (i bought my first camera off cameta, shipping and taxes cost me around 10k). i guess that 70k price tag is because when the s3 first came out, it was around 126k here.

also, considering that it was used by a pro, wear and tear should be a concern. think of the shutter count, the rubber grips, scratches on the finish... etc.

just for reference, i bought my s3 second hand for a little over 30k. :D

nowadays, S3 second-hand prices should only be around 30k :)

yup, Fuji cameras use Nikon F-Mounts (palitan kami ng brother ko ng lenses hehe) feedback with the cam is that it produces fantastic skin tones, and good dynamic range, which is why Fuji cameras found a niche market for wedding and potrait photographers.

although keep in mind that the S3 is already an old camera,, and its age may start to show, especially if you buy one second-hand from a pro photographer :)

i suggest, just keep scouting the internet for other Fuji cams out there in the second-hand market.. im sure there are still units within your budget and in good condition :)

I recall somebody selling the s3 with a nikon kit lens at 36k. Not sure about the condition though.
