personally though, it's very seldom that i use my sweet spot, usually when taking pictures of group of people only. i love the bokeh produced at f1.4 ~ f2.8 for potraiture. macro shots, landscape at f11 and above for DOF.. indoor shots at f1.8 ~f2.8 for faster shutter speed because i don't have a flashgun..
i'm still a newbie, but when i understood the relations of aperture, shutter speed, ISO, DOF etc, that's when i started to care less about the sweet spot and focus on the settings that i need in the current situation where i will take the shot to achieve my desired effect. just my 2cents...
