Pag no flash, try center weighted metering.
Focus and meter middle to back row ng group, lock it in, then recompose the shot na lang.
The people in the front row may be a bit over exposed, but at least you'll be able to take the shot.
I recommend a manageable ISO level like 800, but at 1600 your camera is still pretty good.
It may look noisy when viewed onscreen, but it'll be nice and clean when printed.
Trust me on this one.
People tend to worry too much about noise because they never actually print their pics eh.
You can also try to pull off a low shutter speed shot, but groups usually don't stay put that long.
Better to have a nice sharp shot na lang, even if its at high ISO.  ;)
