Since the Nikon D40/x don't have the acrylic protector as the higher models, I got this and it really is nice on the cam.  :)

Installation is very easy.
a) Clean your LCD
b) Peel of adhesive backing for the Optical LCD Hard protector
c) Position, then install

No need to worry about bubbles since this is a hard optical protector.

got one for my D40 too!
very elegant and no need to worry about the LCD being scratched and smudged!
unfortunately, having some thumbprints on the inside of the protector can't be helped while installing it...

anyways,

Thanks Brian!
...you can't please everybody! *sigh*

I recently bought one.  I'm very impressed with the quality of this product. Clarity is quite notable and the surface is resistant to marring.

This looks cool and interesting.

Questions to everyone who've tried this...
Are there adhesive stains (stickies) left on the camera when this LCD Protector is removed after prolonged use in hot and cold temperatures? Would this protector not dirty my camera when taken off after being used for a long time?

@seller... do you have screen protectors for 40D's top-side LCD? any kind of protector?

i highly recommend it din. i've bought 3 na from echostore. better than nikon's plastic protector.

if i put echo store's lcd protector on the nikon, will i still be able to put the nikon lcd protector that snaps on/off?

is it easy to remove the echo store protector should I have a need to do it?

It will be quite a tight fit if you still want to snap on the nikon lcd protector. Frankly, with our optical LCD protector installed, you don't have to use the Nikon snap on plastic protector anymore.
It's not going to be a problem if you decide to remove the optical lcd protector. Their might be some adhesive residue which is easy to remove naman.
