This coming wednesday im planning to buy a a single focal length lens. Im just  a enthusiasm can you help me to choose a Nikkor 85mm 1.8g or sigma 85mm 1.4.

Sigma is really very good esp the OOF areas but for a lesser price, I can't really ignore the 85G 1.8.Sharpness? Both are sharp.Color cast, rendition, micro contrast are personal preference....I am "barat" kasi hobbyist lang ako.Nikkor 85G 1.8 is really a good buy. IMHO . I was able to use both but eventually I did not buy either since I prefer to use MF versions of 85mm.

Nikon all the way! Very much usable ang f1.8 ng 85mm f1.8g! nagulat ako nung first gamit ko, sharp talaga at wide open. though I haven't try the sigma.
pitik lang ng pitik!

both lens are okay, although di pa ako nakakagamit ng "G" version ng nikon, yung "D" verion lang :), but for me i still choose yung 1.4 ng sigma, why? very usable siya lalo na sa indoor shoot, malaking bagay yung 1.4 for me...lalo sa mga party at birthday shoot na ginagawa ko, although hobbyist lang din ako, pero most of my friends ako na kinukuha pag may occassion sa kanila :)

Ok naman pareho eh. Kaso at f1.4 sa Sigma mas madami kang pwede pagexperimentuhan, yun lang you have to pick a good copy or a JT copy para me free recalibration. Nikon on the other hand is Nikon. Wala kang talo sa pareho :)

How much ang score mo dito, Sir? I'm on the same dilemma, pero I might go for the cheaper one also, 85mm 1.8G. :)
