Cristine Reyes like you've never seen her before

Ok, maybe you have, haha. But this was certainly a departure from her "typical" shoots (her stylist's words, not mine!).


She was a tremendous pleasure to work with and a lot more friendly than some rumors would lead you to believe. Just check out several of her silly reactions in the BTS vid: vimeo.com/42677070. This was for the women's magazine, ZenHealth.

Thanks! My experience has been that celebs are fairly agreeable when it comes to cover features. So in this case, and I assume in many others in the publishing industry, it was simply a matter of getting in contact with her manager and proposing the coverage.

Checking the EXIF on Flickr, it says this one was at 1/160th, f1.8, at 200 ISO.

I don't have much experience with CLS HSS except for test shots with my cat I only have one SB700 to experiment with so I mainly use either a YN460 II or YN465 triggered with RF602s (you can see the trigger mounted on my camera in the BTS video: vimeo.com/42677070. This shot was lit with just one light in a 43" shoot through umbrella. The beauty of small flashes, at least the way I see/rationalize it, is that its relative low power means you don't have to worry about HSS or using ND filters to shoot wide open. Of course, it also helps if the ambient conditions are also ideal (ie., not open/midday sun).

Thank you! That's what we try to go for—simple, natural—with our magazine. She also mentioned it's the route she wants to take her career for now (cue the collective groans from all her fans, haha).
