m4/3s glass to DSLR body is it possible?
« on: June 30, 2012, 12:13:41 AM »
My gf is going to purchase soon a Panasonic GF2 twin lens kit (14-40mm + 14mm 2.8 pancake). I want to try the 14mm pancake on my 450d. Is there an adapter that I can use? thanks.

it will be possible if you can find an adapter for it but one thing is for sure, you will get lots of vignetting since its designed for a smaller sensor camera
A photograph is like a joke, if you have to explain it, its just isn't that good...

It is not worth the effort. I have not seen such an adapter. It should be the other way around. You can build or ask someone to make one but you are lucky if you can get a free lunch. If someone tried it then it could be interesting how the vignetting goes.Anyone?

Not only it will cause vignetting problem as others mention There will some focusing problems, since the back of the lens needs to be a certain distance from the sensor for it to work properly. Since m43 lenses needs requires a shorter distance from the lens to the sensor, the adapter will need a lens/lenses in the it to work properly. Also your not going to have any control on the aperture. With all these problems/issue, I don't think anyone going to try and make one.

I agree with the replies. So +1 on the "dont even bother" column :) I dont think there is such an adapter but if there was I would rather spend the money on some other useful photography accessory. You might want to try the lomo Diana lens instead or something (although it has its cons too, just an example).

If you're only after the "pancake" lens portability, you might as well get yourself the new EF 40mm F2.8 STM.
