I was into VWs before. My car in college was a '61 VW Beetle with 1600 engine to accommodate the A/C.

My brother has a 1958 K. Ghia but unfortunately mga 10 years na yata na iwan sa isang talyer.

both you and your brother are into early models...nice! my bug was also a college car...me and my buddies have lots of memories during our college days. they christened it the gimmick car =D

sayang naman yung Kg nyo...if I'm not mistaken, lowlight model pa ang Karmann Ghia ng brother mo. more rare than the late model Kg.

I was sooo VW crazy before that it was a sickness. I searched Buendia and Araneta for those white knobs, white ends for the turn lamps and even the lugnuts were stamped with VW.

Sayang nga yung 1958 KG nya since this model is what I liked and not the newer ones. The body reminds me of the 190SL of MB (after VW I got MB crazy also). I plan to pull it out but I am sure a lot of parts have been stolen and the storage fee would be phenomenal! My bro kasi is in NZ na.

I keep seeing one around Ayala Alabang. Our neighbour in AAV, a former Ateneo Prof. and usual judge for VW competitions, has a convertible beige 70s era VW. He didn't like our KG since he hates that it is double walled and the fight against rust would be never ending.

It is a lowlight Karmann Ghia! lalo akong nanghinayang...to think na napag-kunan lang ito ng parts sa talyer =(

nice yellow '61 you've got there...yup, there was a time na walang makuhang parts for early v.w. models kaya the trend was modify and convert to late model parts. okay lang yun...madali lang ibalik sa original specs ang ganyang modifications in the future =) judging by the pics of your bug, the pic was taken during the '90's...tama ba? 

i just love those bumper over-riders...yan ang 1st ko na tinitingnan sa mga early model beetles and Karmann. mine doesn't have those being a late model beetle =)

btw, do you have a shot of the dashboard, specifically the steering wheel? i have a hunch that it's an aftermarket, one that's sought after. would like to confirm this if you have a shot =)

Yup, he's a member of volks tambay at Visayas Ave ... sorry wala akong kuha nung dashboard, but he told me the steering wheel was Empi Universal
