My S100 is dead  :'(

I am now getting the dreaded E18 Lens error. After my wife replaced the battery, the lens barrel will no longer retract. According to forum posts, it's possible that when the camera was shutting down because of low batteries it didn't have enough juice to properly retract the lens. Since this is a grey unit I doubt I can get it fully warrantied by Canon Philippines and it'll most likely cost me an arm and a leg to have it fixed by them. Can anyone recommend a good repair shop in hidalgo? Thanks.
kay bert mura lng yan

not sure if canon philippines will fix yours free of charge. but before they do service cameras with known manufacturing issues free of charge even if the camera was not locally purchased

hi guys, can i have your opinion on whether i should shift to canon s100. i really have a problem on my lx5 being a "compact" camera since i can't really fit it in my pocket and i have to always bring it with my carrying case. it's a really a bothersome for me to lug around a camera when going out. i really need to "compact" so i can put it in my pocket. that's why i want the s100. what would i miss with my lx5 if im shifting to canon s100? i really don't need the hot-shoe at the top since i mainly use it for pns. tia!

just curious, how many photos can you take with a full charge of the battery?  Can it last a day of taking photos?

based from reviews, it says 200.

I've been checking out some sellers, some posted 16K with 1 year store warranty. so i guess with canon warranty, just add 2K or so. pero di ako sure.

medyo malaki price difference... Canon's SRP is Php28,998... magkaron man ng discount, malayo pa rin sa 16k ng gray... but the main difference will be

gray = 1 year store/service warranty
canon ph = 3 years parts & service warranty

i hope hindi pa binuksan ng DBGadgets yung camera mo... yung service warranty kasi nila ipaparepair yata sa regular camera repairman... which may be grounds for canon to refuse service if nabuksan na yung camera. maybe you should try to see if hindi pa ginagaga ng DB yung camera mo and just get it back and bring it to canon directly

WOW! P28,898 for local warrantied unit vs. P16,000 for gray unit ..... that's almost double the price ..... if the price difference was only P2,000 then it would make more sense to get the local warrantied unit .... but for P13,000 price difference, the gray looks more appealing

when was it canvassed?

Canon Philippines' advisory was just posted last JUNE 28... so maybe if you'll return the unit, they will repair it for free since the NOTICE indicates that they will repair the error FREE of CHARGE, REGARDLESS OF THE WARRANTY STATUS... the same statement written in  Canon USA site...

to be exact, most prices on TPC are around 16,700 for the black unit.
made me wonder where they get their units because of the price diff.

question is, do you value the 3 years warranty more?

regarding the free fix, does it include gray units?

DB Gadgets wants to charge me 2000 pesos to fix the camera. I called CMP and my gray unit is not covered under the warranty so I'll need to pay either way. I think I'll have CMP fix it na lang para sure na official yung mag aayos. Hay, so disappointed with my purchase :(

Ayaw mag bigay ng price eh. I have to bring it for "diagnostic" daw. If what DB Gadgets said is true na flex lang sira, hindi sana umabot ng 7k.

Btw, sinisingil ako ni CMP ng 250 for diagnostic fee tapos nung pullout ko na kay DB, he won't honor the warranty na daw if I have it fixed by CMP (which is understandable) and nagbayad na daw siya ng 600 na diagnostic fee sa service center. Saan service center kaya siya nagpa check?
