CONTEST RULES

1. Competition is open only to students and alumni of University of Santo Tomas, either professional, hobbyist, amateur or students. A participant can only choose one (1) category in joining the photo contest.

2. Photos shall be taken only during the stated contest period (January 01, 2009 - January 30, 2010) within University of Santo Tomas campus.

Note: The UST Museum,UST Hospital, UST Father’s Residence, and UST Main Building Tower are restricted to public access.

3. A contestant may submit a maximum of four (4) entries only. In case both entries of the same participant win any of the prizes, the prize of higher value shall be awarded. The remaining prize shall be given in favor of the succeeding winner, in descending order.

4. Entries shall be submitted on or before the deadline in digital copy
(JPEG format only), with at least 1800 pixels X 1200 pixels at 280/300 DPI together with the corresponding registration and entry forms to UST400images@pinoyphotography.org.

5. Concept should be original, entertaining and wholesome, depicting the photo contest theme of University of Santo Tomas Quadricentennial Celebration. Use of logos and brand names (except that of University of Santo Tomas or UST Quadricentennial Celebration), foul language and violent actions are grounds for immediate disqualifications.

6. Entries submitted should be accompanied with a duly filled up Photo Entry Form and Undertakings Form duly filled up and signed.

7. No name or any mark identifying the photographer shall be included in the photo itself. Upon submission, all entries shall bear only the Photo Entry Number. Names of photographers shall be included only after the judging and during the photo exhibits.

8. Post-processing is allowed but is limited to global adjustments only. Photos should not be altered digitally nor elements may be added or removed. Only colored format is acceptable, absolutely no black and whites and IR formats. Use of enhancement filters, polarizing, neutral and density filters are allowed.

9. Entries should not be submitted or to be submitted to any other competition, owned by other entity, nor subject of any copyright issue.

10. Only pictures belonging to top four hundred (400) shall be kept by University of Santo Tomas for PR use within a limited period of 24 months (January 2010 – 2111), and is limited to print (broadsheets and magazines), AVP’s and web use only. However, it is agreed with University of Santo Tomas, that the photographer retains full copyright/intellectual property right over the submitted photo entry, with full acknowledgment of photographer’s name without any monetary compensation or anything of pecuniary value.

11. Only pictures belonging to top ten (10) shall be used by University of Santo Tomas for all marketing collaterals, documentation and publication. However, it is agreed with University of Santo Tomas that the photographer retains full copyright/intellectual property right over the submitted photo entry, with full acknowledgment of photographer’s name without any monetary compensation or anything of pecuniary value.

12. The top 200, 100 and 10 winners shall be selected from each category. Winners will be announced during a culmination program and shall be notified via registered email. University of Santo Tomas Museum the primary organization, together with a representative from the Pinoy Photography Organization which is handling logistics for the photo contest. They shall oversee the selection of finalists, winners of top three prizes.

13. Non-finalist entries will be kept by Pinoy Photography Organization within thirty (30) days from the date of declaration and awarding of winners, otherwise, the same shall be disposed of properly to prevent unauthorized use.

14. Judges' decision is final. University of Santo Tomas Museum and Pinoy Photography Organization reserves the right to modify the mechanics and contest rules.

15. Violation of any above-stated rules and/or non-compliance of the same shall be a ground for automatic disqualification.

16. The UST Quadricentennial Celebration Photo Contest Organizing Committee; University of Santo Tomas Museum, Pinoy Photography Organization and their relatives up to the third civil degree of consanguinity and affinity are disqualified from joining the competition.
